Golf Turf Varieties

Selecting the correct variety of sod is not always as easy as one would think. It is important when choosing the appropriate sod for your golf course to know what options you have. To be more specific, it is critical that you go through the necessary steps to ensure you are making the correct choice, and the investment in new turf makes sense.

Mach 1
Mach 1 Ultradwarf Bermudagrass has been characterized as one of the cleanest and purest turfs throughout its growth period. It’s attractive fine texture, exceptional density, extreme tightness and overall smoothness create the ultimate playing surface. Above all else, golfers vote with their putters and this grass is fast!
Sunday Ultradwarf
Sunday Ultra-Dwarf Bermudagrass is a genetically stable, cold tolerant putting green variety that provides lower maintenance, high-end putting green surfaces. This is the ultimate “if you build it, they will come” grass. Sunday’s low input maintenance demands yield an exceptional putting surface without all the fuss of a high end ultradwarf.
Calcutta
An old grass with a new name, Calcutta Ultradwarf Bermudagrass (P-18) has been planted on hundreds of golf courses throughout the southern hemisphere and displays outstanding putting quality. Comparatively easy to manage and producing less grain and thatch than most major competitive Ultradwarf bermudagrasses, Calcutta is a grass you can bet on!
MiniVerde
Offered only to our International clients, MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass (P-18) can be found on putting greens throughout the south and around the world. This grass has a phenomenal root and rhizome structure and is very quick to establish. It can be found on championship putting surfaces, municipalities and everywhere in between.
Celebration® Bermudagrass
Since entering sod production in 2000, Celebration™ Bermudagrass has become a new favorite for golf courses due to its excellent wear tolerance. The dark blue-green color and rapid growth rate make this turfgrass a top contender for golf course superintendents and sports turf managers across the United States.
Latitude36™ Bermuda
A fine bladed bermudagrass suitable for tees, fringes, fairways and roughs, this cold tolerant newcomer to the high-end turf market tolerates low mowing heights, recovers quickly from injury and looks better than any bermudagrass in production. In blind comparisons, golfers are drawn to Latitude 36 above all other varieties.
419 Bermuda
Tifway 419 has been the standard for golf course tees, fairways and roughs throughout the southern United States for decades. Our Certified and Registered Tifway 419 is also used on sports fields and in many landscape settings.
Zorro Zoysia
Zorro Zoysia is a very fine bladed zoysia with a deep green color that is suitable for golf course fairways, tees and fringes, as well as clubhouse lawns. Outstanding shade tolerance with low fertility and irrigation requirements make this an exceptionally environmentally friendly choice.
EMPIRE Turf®
On golf courses, Empire Zoysia’s unique texture and dark green color offers a striking contrast to other grasses and highlights key features such as bunker faces, mounding, and roughs.
