Who We Are
Modern Turf is a family-owned and operated enterprise that specializes in the production of premium grass varieties for the golf, sports, and landscape industries. Our team consists of former golf course superintendents who contribute a substantial wealth of expertise and experience to each project.
Founded by Hank Kerfoot, an alumnus of Lake City Community College, and currently led by Vice President B.J. Haunert, a graduate of Ohio State University, Modern Turf is supported by a team of seasoned industry professionals. Buddy Smith and Jamey Jackson, both of whom have extensive backgrounds in the turfgrass industry, collaborate with Hank and B.J. to cover a broad geographic area, extending from Virginia to Florida and as far west as Texas.
In total, our team possesses over 125 years of turf management experience across the United States, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. We are really convinced that turfgrass cultivated and installed by former golf course superintendents yields a superior product for architects, builders, homeowners, and sports turf managers.
